SF architect Alberto Zappacosta plans to build a $100-million Brutalist home on a hillside in San Francisco’s Mission District.
Zappacosa will be launching a new project called “The Biggest Building on Earth,” which will feature a total of 11 buildings in San Jose and San Francisco, including the new $100.5 million Zappos.
The new home will be the largest in the U.S. for a residential structure and will be built at the site of the former Alhambra hotel.
The home is designed to be an architectural jewel that will serve as an important symbol of the city’s history and culture, Zappacsos office said in a press release.ZAPPACOSA home is expected to include an observation deck with a view of San Francisco Bay, as well as an underground tunnel connecting the property to the hillside and other features, the office said.
The home will also feature a large outdoor pool, a garden, a fitness center and a poolhouse.
The office did not reveal when the project would begin construction.
Zappacia will be making the announcement at a press conference on Sunday, which is expected for 5:30 p.m.
The project is expected cost more than $1 billion, but Zappacco said that’s just the beginning.
He is looking for partners and investors to help fund the project.
